“I am a proud Democrat, small business owner, and lifelong resident of Bernalillo County. My family instilled in me the values of education, hard work and service to others. I’m running for re-election to County Commission District 5 because I love my community and believe we must continue the progress we have made in the last 4 years.
We have invested millions in public saftey. We now have a fully staffed Sheriff's department bringing criminals to justice, but we've also doubled down on prevention and crisis response. I led the charge to reform behavior health in Bernalillo county emphasizing accountability and outcomes. We also shifted our approach on housing to collaborate with regional partners like the City of Albuquerque and its yielding results by attracting millions of dollars in state investment that will house over 1000 people this year alone. We have made huge progress, but too many in our community still feel unsafe and lack access to basic needs like healthcare, housing, and jobs that pay a living wage. I want to keep up this work on the county commission to continue to deliver for my hometown.
I hope to earn your support on June 2. ” —Eric Olivas
